Career

Alan Jeftha is a practising attorney based at the Dentons Cape Town office and heads up the firm's Technology, Media and Telecoms Department.  He has more than 32 years of experience in the technology, broadcasting and media sectors and comes from a background specialising in intellectual property law, information technology and corporate and commercial law.

As an intellectual property lawyer, he has served since 1997 as an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) specialist on the Standing Advisory Committee on Intellectual Property (SACIP), and advising the Minister of Trade and Industry and Government on IPR law reform as an SACIP member. 

He holds an LLM degree from the University of Cape Town where his studies focused on bio-technology and its interface with intellectual property, environmental law, marine law, and natural resources law. This has stood him in good stead in advising clients in various sectors, amongst others, broadcasting and media sectors (both radio and television and also the advertising industry), and a wide range of sectors where he advised clients on technology issues.
