Intellectual Property, Data and Technology

Giangiacomo Olivi is a partner in Dentons’ Milan office and Head of the Intellectual Property Data and Technology Group in Italy, as well as Co-Head of the same group in Europe.

Giangiacomo has focused his practice on IT, data and commercial contracts for over 30 years, spanning various industries, including technology, media, retail, insurance and financial services. His work includes strategic sourcing and partnerships for sharing know-how and developing new business lines.

He represents national and international companies, as well as industrial associations. He also advises Italian and international clients in the drafting and negotiation of commercial technology supply agreements and in the context of innovative projects, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.

Furthermore, he guides clients through their digital transformation processes and advises on compliance with GDPR and all regulations relating to data protection and technologies in general (e-privacy, AI Act, DSA, etc.), including the coordination of major projects involving multiple jurisdictions.

He was appointed as member of the expert panel set up by the Ministry for Economic Development to devise the recommendations for the Italian strategy for Artificial Intelligence.
