Career
Pál Belényesi is a key member of the Public Policy and Regulatory group at Dentons’ Budapest office. He has a unique blend of experience extending over 20 years in the fields of law, economics, environmental and sustainability issues, as well as regulatory affairs. He holds a Ph.D. in law, focusing on the intersection of environmental and competition law and economics in network industries.
His educational background also includes an LL.M. from the European University Institute in Florence and a masters in international law from the University of Antwerp. His post-doctorate research focuses on behavioral economics and evidence-based policy making. His extraordinary professional background has been built up in the US, the Middle East, Hungary, the UK, Italy and at the EU helm, in Brussels, adding a truly global perspective to his work. Pál Belényesi is a former European Parliament and European Commission employee, he has worked at DG Competition and DG Research of the EU executive, as well as at various departments of national governmental institutions in Hungary. He has extensive experience working with and negotiating on behalf of clients from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas, representing NGOs, private clients, and governmental institutions in Brussels.
Pál has built up a vast understanding of policymaking, covering a range of policies such as ICT and digital, environmental and sustainable policies, as well as chemicals and data privacy. His comprehensive skill set is instrumental in streamlining regulatory and legal matters, ensuring a safer, smoother proactive and ahead of the market compliant process for clients.
