Erwin Simons is a seasoned dealmaker with over 25 years of experience advising both domestic and international clients on complex transactions in the Belgian market, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic investments. He combines deep legal expertise with a pragmatic, business-focused approach, helping clients navigate every stage of the deal lifecycle.

Before joining Dentons, Erwin was a partner in the Corporate and M&A team at DLA Piper Brussels. He is consistently ranked as a leading lawyer in M&A and private equity by IFLR1000 and Leaders League.

Beyond transactional work, Erwin also advises on general corporate matters and (cross-border) corporate restructurings. He has coordinated several high-stakes and sensitive mandates, including formal complaint procedures and EU Pilot actions against the Belgian State before the European Commission — demonstrating his ability to handle legally and politically complex “special matters” with strategic precision.
