Career

Jacqueline is a partner in the global Banking and Finance practice and is co-head of the Europe Transportation and Infrastructure Sector, with a growing specialist focus on development finance and blended finance. Jacqueline joined the partnership at Dentons from a position as a successful freelancer, where her work involved the first commercial aviation financing in Myanmar, a reforestation project in Rwanda and Uganda, and the supply chain financing of a cooperative of rice farmers in Cambodia. Since joining Dentons, Jacqueline’s sustainable finance practice has expanded into renewables, including several secured solar and wind project financings. Jacqueline is currently working on the financing of the construction of solar mini-grids on a collection of petrol stations across multiple jurisdictions in Africa.

Jacqueline has extensive in-house experience spent at the Dutch development bank FMO, at ABN AMRO Bank N.V. where she implemented the bank’s credit risk insurance programme, and as general counsel to an investment fund.

Due to Jacqueline’s work in the emerging markets, Jacqueline is recognised by Chambers Global 2022 as being a Banking & Finance Foreign Expert – UK.

Jacqueline Bell Dentons

Dentons advises both banks and borrowers across a range of asset-backed facilities, frequently being called upon to structure ESG-focused loans and those backed by real estate, energy and aviation assets. The team is particularly adept at handling deals governed by English and Welsh law, with Jacqueline Bell, who heads the firm’s European transport and infrastructure team, advising on the financing of aircraft and energy projects. Bell leads the group alongside Marcel Janssen, a specialist in export and project finance.

Dentons offers clients a strong cross-border capability, advising, among others, energy companies and real estate investors on the restatement of existing term loans and RCFs, while also helping them acquire acquisition, project and real estate facilities. Members of the core team include Jacqueline Bell, a specialist on innovative finance structures with a particular focus on developing economies. Marcel Janssen is noted for his expertise in green finance, advising on sustainability-linked loans, while Ines van Dijk focuses on real estate financing. Duco Postma joined from A&O Shearman in April 2024, bringing restructuring expertise to the team.

Dentons stands out for its expertise in battery energy storage system (BESS) energy projects and has been involved in a number of major BESS projects in the Netherlands. The team advises on energy transition issues and assists both lenders and sponsors in project and energy finance. Marcel Janssen spearheads the banking and finance practice and specialises in project finance and energy finance. Co-lead of the transport and infrastructure team Jacqueline Bell handles cross-border financings, while Jan Jakob Peelen leads the energy group and advises on solar, wind and biomass projects.
