Position
Jan Jakob Peelen is head of the Public Law practice in Amsterdam and a partner in the Energy group. He focuses on environmental law, planning, energy regulations and general administrative law. Amongst others, Jan Jakob advises on the development of various biomass power plants, waste-to-energy / waste-to-product projects, solar projects, and wind projects. In these projects, Jan Jakob assists the client throughout the duration of the project, from the preparation of the permit applications, up to the proceedings before the administrative courts.
In addition to the project development practice, Jan Jakob also regularly advises investors and financial institutions on M&A and project finance transactions in the energy space. Amongst others, Jan Jakob advises on investments in solar projects, wind projects, and biomass projects, where Jan Jakob advises the client on the regulatory issues to be taken into account in the investment decision.
Jan Jakob also advises clients in the chemical industry and the healthcare and life sciences sector on health and safety and environmental issues, such as in relation to the EU REACH Regulation.
Jan Jakob is recognized as one of the leading lawyers by the Legal 500 directory, in which clients describe him as ‘proactive’, ‘precise’ and ‘esteemed’.
