Matthew has over 20 years’ experience in legal and commercial advisory roles, having worked for leading corporate and legal institutions in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Europe and Asia.  With a strong background in corporate and commercial advisory, banking and finance, capital markets and financial regulation, he specialises in the legal aspects of emerging global technologies such as blockchain based solutions and businesses, digital currency exchange and brokerage.

Matthew’s recent experience includes:

Advising Australian digital currency exchanges on all aspects of financial regulation including anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing registration and compliance Advising on the establishment of a foreign based digital currency businesses in Australia Advising on capital raising by means of combined institutional and crowd-sourced funding for early stage technology businesses Advising on regulatory issues for blockchain based projects Drafting and negotiation of shareholder agreements, share sale and purchase agreements, commercial and joint venture agreements, equity and debt financing, software development and licensing agreements, corporate governance, risk and compliance policies

In Matthew’s spare time, he enjoys playing and coaching basketball and supports initiatives to improve the natural environment and address social and economic disadvantage. He is a keen musician, performing as a guitarist with a local Sydney band and a member of Sydney’s jazz and funk community. Matthew has worked and lived in London and Italy and speaks Italian.
