The Firm: With offices in Brighton, Hove, Horsham and Worthing, Coole Bevis LLP is the result of the merger in 2016 of two of the most highly regarded and longest standing law firms in Sussex, Coole & Haddock and Woolley Bevis Diplock LLP. Our client base extends well beyond Sussex and we are often chosen over London law firms.

Types of work undertaken: Coole Bevis LLP provides a comprehensive legal service to businesses and individuals alike. Our lawyers regularly deal with high value assets and transactions, often involving foreign elements.
Corporate and Commercial: the team handles all types of corporate transactions, including business sales and purchases, company restructuring, acquisitions and disposals. Our lawyers also provide commercial law support to businesses and entrepreneurs, including shareholders’ and directors’ agreements, NDAs, supply contracts and business terms and conditions.
Private Client: This is one of the largest specialists departments in Sussex, with significant expertise in wills and trusts, estate and succession planning, and later life issues, as well as charity advice. The partner in charge of this department is on the Panel of Deputies, one of only 68 in the Country. A dispute resolution partner specialises in contentious probate.
Family: This team is renowned for “punching above its weight”. In addition to handling a wide range of divorce, separation, pre and post nuptial agreements, children and other family issues, we have specialists qualified in Mediation and Collaborative law. A significant number of our cases involve complex issues including multiple foreign assets.
Property: The firm has great strength and depth in all aspects of property law. Unusually for a regional practice, we have a specialist leasehold enfranchisement team, as well as an enviable reputation for providing a quality service in respect of both commercial and residential property transactions. Our dispute resolution department has significant expertise in property disputes.
Dispute Resolution: As well as contentious probate and property disputes, referred to above, our litigators deal with commercial litigation such as shareholder and franchise disputes, IT contract litigation, insolvency proceedings and professional negligence cases. We have specialist rights of audience to appear in court on our clients’ behalf where necessary.
Clinical Negligence/Personal Injury: This team specialises in catastrophic and complex personal injury and clinical negligence claim. The head of department is a member of the Law Society’s Personal injury Panel and of APIL (Association of Personal Injury lawyers), as well as advisor with AVMA (Action for Victims of Medical Accidents).
