Karl Mutter is a Partner and Head of the Life Sciences & Healthcare practice, and co-head of the Intellectual Property practice.

He has over 25 years of experience advising clients on the protection and management of intellectual property rights, including trademarks, patents, industrial designs, plant breeders’ rights and copyrights. His practice also includes the management of IP portfolios at both national and international levels, as well as conducting IP due diligence in the context of internal audits and M&A transactions. He regularly represents clients in enforcement actions and infringement claims.

Karl also brings more than 20 years of experience in life sciences and healthcare regulatory matters. He advises pharmaceutical and medical device companies on market access, including regulatory approvals, labelling, advertising and product liability issues.

In addition, he has extensive experience advising on regulatory frameworks applicable to dietary supplements, food and beverages, alcoholic products and cosmetics, including market authorisations, functional claims and advertising compliance.
