Position

Álvaro Yáñez is a Partner and co-head of the Energy & Climate Change practice. He holds a Doctor of Law degree from Universidad del Rosario.

He brings extensive experience advising national and international clients across a range of sectors, including financial institutions, oil and gas companies, and industrial and commercial corporations. His practice includes representing clients in complex disputes, particularly within the energy sector, where he has been repeatedly appointed as legal representative in high-stakes matters.

Álvaro began his career as a civil judge in Cúcuta and later established his own law firm in Bogotá, building a strong foundation in dispute resolution and commercial advisory work.

He has held prominent positions in the business community, including serving on the board of directors of the Franco-Colombian Bank and the Colombian-French Chamber of Commerce, and as a founding member of the Colombian-Chilean Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, he has an established academic background, having taught commercial law at Universidad del Rosario and Universidad Santo Tomás.
