Banking and Finance

Fred is a partner in the Banking and Finance Team.

He has over 10 years’ combined experience in the Banking and Finance practice gained through his engagement with 3 commercial banks in Uganda. During this period, he has advised on and participated in the structuring, negotiation, and documentation of syndicated facilities, trade finance deals, receivables financing and commodity financing transactions. This has often entailed review and negotiation of complex financing documents, securitization instruments and legal opinions from different jurisdictions. 

Prior to joining the firm as partner in 2023, Fred worked as  Senior Legal Counsel, ABSA Bank Uganda Limited and in the legal teams of  Housing Finance Bank Limited  and  Equity Bank Uganda Limited.

Fred has acted as a trusted legal adviser on several high‑value cross‑border banking and finance transactions across Sub‑Saharan Africa. His work includes advising major international and regional lenders—such as Standard Bank of South Africa, Standard Chartered Bank (Mauritius), the European Investment Bank, and Equity Bank Kenya—on complex syndicated facilities,  multi‑jurisdictional financing arrangements and security perfection. He has supported transactions ranging from USD 110 million to USD 226 million involving borrowers in the renewable energy, telecommunications, manufacturing, and commodity sectors.
