Position

Eriya is a principal associate within the firm’s dispute resolution team.

Career

Eriya has over 8 years of experience and has acted on high‑value and complex disputes for a range of major institutions. His work includes representing an international development bank in recovery of over USD 118 million against a defaulting Hotel Group in Uganda, and defending the bank against borrower claims exceeding USD 200 million. He has also represented a leading manufacturer of consumer goods in East Africa in defending a claim of USD 18 million brought by a former distributor. Eriya frequently represents the Central Bank of Uganda in high‑stakes regulatory disputes, including constitutional and judicial review matters involving defunct commercial banks and “fit and proper” assessments.

Eriya completed the Webber Wentzel Litigation Associate Foundation Programme in Johannesburg and has featured in the prestigious Chambers and Partners Litigation Guide 2019 as a co-author of the Law and Practice in Uganda.
