Career

Romina Tobar is Counsel and co-leads the Environmental and Public Law practice areas at Prieto.

Her practice focuses on providing environmental advice to national and international clients, as well as designing advanced regulatory strategies that ensure compliance and promote sustainable solutions for complex projects. Romina offers comprehensive support throughout all regulatory phases, with a particular emphasis on the energy, forestry, mining, infrastructure, and real estate industries.

She has led environmental assessments for environmental impact studies and declarations under the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), as well as public and indigenous community consultations. Additionally, she has managed the acquisition of sectoral permits and has extensive experience handling administrative sanctioning procedures before various government agencies and environmental litigation before Environmental Courts.

Romina has participated as a speaker in key forums and events in the energy industry, universities, and trade associations, standing out in environmental, regulatory, and energy transition matters.

Since 2023, she has also served as a Board Member of the Chilean Association of Renewable Energies and Storage (ACERA A.G.), which brings together over 150 members, including developers, generators, and product and service providers, both national and international, across the entire renewable energy industry value chain.

In the 2025 edition of the Legal 500 Ranking, she was recognized as a “Next Generation Partner” in the Environment category. Additionally, she was acknowledged in the 2025 French Leaders League ranking as “Recommended” in the Dispute Resolution: Environmental Law category.

Romina joined Prieto in 2023. Previously, she served as Head of the Legal Evaluation Department at the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA) from 2017 to 2022. Before that, she worked as an associate attorney in the projects area of Vergara Galindo Correa (2011-2016), in the environmental area of Correa Gubbins (2009-2010), and in the corporate area of Carvallo, Bizzarri & García (2008).
