Career

Rodrigo Ochagavía has extensive experience in Corporate Finance, including Banking and Finance, Capital Markets, Mergers and Acquisitions and Energy.

He has represented a broad range of clients, including lenders, borrowers, purchasers, sellers, governments, investors, financial advisers, issuers, credit enhancers and underwriters. In the energy sector he has represented generators, transmission and distribution companies.

He was one of the two most voted Chilean lawyers in a survey conducted by Latin Lawyer in 2003 choosing the twenty best Chilean lawyers under forty years of age. He also has been chosen as one of the leading Chilean practitioners in Banking and Finance, Projects, Energy and Mergers and Acquisitions by Chambers and Partners; in Banking and Capital Markets by Who’s Who Legal; and in Banking and Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions by IFLR.

Is a professor of Business Law at the Law School of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and of Mergers and Acquisitions in the Master in Business Law at Universidad de los Andes.

He is a member of the Chilean Bar Association and the International Bar Association.

He joined Claro & Cia. in 1997 and became partner in 2001. He was previously with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York, 1996-1997 and Carey & Cia. in Chile,1990-1995.
