Position

Alvin is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution department of Appleby’s Shanghai office, and a Legal Manager of Appleby’s Hong Kong office.

Career

Alvin dedicates his practice to corporate, commercial and regulatory disputes across Asia. With over a decade of experience, he represents clients in high-value arbitration, litigation, regulatory matters and corporate investigations, with a focus on the financial services sector, professional services industry and multinational corporations.

Alvin regularly advises companies on regulatory investigations and offers strategic guidance to investment banks and corporations on internal investigations and compliance matters.  He also handles disputes and arbitrations involving substantial financial claims in sectors and industries such as biopharmaceuticals, technology, professional services and real estate. Fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin, Alvin is adept at navigating complex, cross-border legal challenges and delivering strategic solutions for clients.

He read Law at the University of Cambridge and obtained an MEng in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London. Alvin is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).  This dual background provides him with practical understanding of technical and analytical matters, which further supports him in delivering commercially sensitive solutions.

Prior to joining Appleby, Alvin spent more than ten years at O’Melveny in Hong Kong.

Education

Alvin was admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (non-practising).
