The respected Jáuregui y Del Valle, S.C. fields a team of six lawyers that handles all aspects of international trade and customs, including litigation, market access, trade policy, multilateral and bilateral trade agreements, preferential trade regimes, customs compliance, trade compliance and trade remedies. The solid team acted for ADM subsidiary Almidones Mexicanos, and Tate & Lyle, in trade-related matters concerning the potential impact of changes in NAFTA, negotiations concerning sweeteners in NAFTA and other international agreements, and the VAT applicable to food imports into Mexico. It also involved in a number of antidumping cases, acting for Internacional de Cerámica in an investigation into Chinese imports; Schwabe subsidiary Laboratorios Farmasa regarding the importation of medicines; Trade Comercializadora Internacional in customs matters concerning the importation and finishing of textiles from China for apparel, home textiles and potential export to South America; and Mount Vernon Mills in a large dispute concerning textile imports. Practice head David Hurtado built the firm’s practice and is considered ‘one of the key players in trade matters in Mexico’; key support comes from senior associate Julia García de Acevedo Chávez, who covers dumping, customs, and health-related international commerce. Jáuregui y Del Valle, S.C.'s active practice is led by David Hurtado who has very good expertise in antitrust, litigation, and clearance work. The team also provides regular day-to-day advice and training to its clients, which include Philips Mexicana, Colgate Palmolive, Saint Gobain, and General Motors. On the investigations front, the team recently handled several major investigations into the transport sector, as well as representing clients on similar issues in the medical equipment and financial services markets. Corporate and M&A Tier 3
Jáuregui y Del Valle, S.C. is recommended for its expertise on a wide range of matters, including M&A, corporate governance, distribution agreements and restructurings. The five-partner team is led by the experienced Miguel Ishii Yokoyama and includes María del Pilar Labastida and Citlali Perez. The team recently advised Grupo Holzer on its acquisition of a 16.5% stake in the Soho Mall, which is under construction in Panama. As well as advising corporates, the group also represents a growing number of private equity funds, including Walton CKD, which it advised on the corporate aspects of its acquisition of the Hotel Hilton Los Cabos.

Jáuregui y Del Valle, S.C.’s tax team is ‘always informed about the latest news and potential for reform, helping clients anticipate and prepare for change’. Mainly focused on providing consultancy work for real estate funds, it advised CKD Walton II on the tax aspects of the structuring of the platform to issue $300m B-series certificates, and on the structuring of a joint venture for development of the $150m La Mexicana residential project located in the Santa Fe area of Mexico City; CKD Walton on the $188m acquisition of the JW Marriott hotel located in the Polanco Area of Mexico City; and PGIM Real Estate on the restructuring of its retail fund in order to allow investors to continue obtaining a tax exemption in Mexico. In other work, the team also handled litigation and representation before the authorities, as well as additional domestic and international tax matters, including issues related to finance, banking, telecoms, strategic alliances, corporate reorganisations, international trade and insurance. Managing partner Luis Gerardo Del Valle Torres (who is also know for his welath management advice) is recommended; he co-leads the practice with Eduardo Medina Zapata ; between them they cover the full range of tax matters and lead on all mandates; senior counsel Luis Carballo Balvanera is another key practitioner; support comes from Gonzalo Mauricio Breña Labarrère and Jessica Paz González, and associates Josemaria Ferez Gil and Ricardo David García Robles.
