About

The firm: Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, founded in 1830, was one of the first US law firms to develop a truly international practice. Dedicated to counselling clients involved with some of the most challenging transnational transactions and complex multijurisdictional disputes, Curtis represents multinational companies, international financial institutions, governments and state-owned entities, family and other privately held businesses, entrepreneurs and high-net-worth individuals. With offices in the United States, Europe, Latin America, Central and East Asia, and the Middle East, Curtis is located in the key business centres where clients need the firm most.

Areas of practice: Curtis has two thriving offices in Italy based in Milan and Rome.

The team comprises Italian, UK and US-qualified attorneys, a number of whom are law school professors. The offices work closely with the firm’s 15 other offices across Europe, the Americas, Central Asia and the Middle East. Members of the Milan and Rome offices advise Italian and international companies and financial institutions on the full range of corporate and finance matters. This includes establishing subsidiaries in Italy and complying with Italian corporate regulations, as well as advising on issues relating to mergers and acquisitions, labour and employment, real estate, competition, intellectual property, tax and administrative law.

The team has an impressive track record in energy law matters, particularly within the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors. They advise clients on cross-border energy transactions before the Italian and EU energy regulatory authorities, and assist them in the structuring and negotiation of contracts for the transportation and distribution of natural gas. The team also has deep experience in the negotiation and drafting of commercial contracts in the real estate, distribution and corporate restructuring sectors, among others.

The litigation and arbitration practice is highly developed and distinctive in the market for its focus on both international arbitration and domestic dispute resolution. The team represents clients before EU and national courts and institutions, as well as national and international arbitral bodies. Attorneys have represented clients in some of the most significant international arbitrations worldwide, handling disputes under the rules of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL).

There is breadth of experience advising both domestic and international corporates and financial institutions of all kinds in the areas of banking and finance, corporate, energy, real estate and telecoms sectors. The team has advised both international and Italian clients, including international banks and investors, sovereign wealth funds in Italian markets, leading Italian banks and financial institutions.

Lawyers in the firm’s Italian offices represent private companies and multinational corporations on general and corporate finance matters, including establishing subsidiaries in Italy and complying with Italian corporate regulations, as well as issues relating to mergers and acquisitions, labour and employment, real estate, competition, intellectual property, tax and administrative law.

The office is part of Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Colt & Mosle LLP, an English-registered limited liability partnership.
