Career

Amanda Athayde is a renowned expert in antitrust law, compliance, and international trade. Amanda has extensive experience in public service, having served on senior positions in the Brazilian government. Amanda served as the Head of Trade Remedies and Public Interest (SDCOM) at the Foreign Trade Office (SECEX) of the Ministry of Economy, overseeing investigations and rulings on antidumping, subsidies, safeguards, and public interest matters.

Amanda also served as Chief of Staff for the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MPF) at the Brazilian Antitrust Authority; Chief of Staff for CADE’s General Superintendence; and Head of the Antitrust Leniency Program. As a foreign trade analyst at the Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade (MDIC), she participated in initial negotiating rounds on international cooperation and facilitation investment agreements (CFIAs).

Amanda is a prolific author and editor of books, articles, and book chapters on topics such as business law, antitrust law, international trade, compliance, leniency agreements, trade remedies and public interest, and anticorruption. She is a Professor of Law at the University of Brasília (UnB), and hosts Direito Empresarial Café com Leite, a business law podcast. She is also a co-founder of Women in Antitrust (WIA) and a member of the Women Inside Trade (WIT), networks promoting the participation and empowerment of women in the fields of antitrust and trade.
