Petteri Häkkänen handles all types of cases related to intellectual property and its protection.

He specialises in demanding legal proceedings concerning industrial rights, and in the preceding conflict management investigations and protection strategies. The typical case handled by Petteri is a complex trademark and patent infringement or, for example, a conflict relating to business secrets or unfair business practices. Petteri represents numerous Finnish and global companies in all matters concerning industrial rights.

Petteri’s recent experience includes:

successfully representing Procter & Gamble in the Market Court against SCA with regard to misleading marketing claims on consumer products successfully representing Posti Group Oyj (the national Post Office) against Deutche Post AG in trademark opposition and infringement case before the OHIM advising the Estate of famous composer Jean Sibelius in relation to the commercialization of the JEAN SIBELIUS trademark around the world advising a multinational steel manufacturer in a complex core patent ownership matter successfully advising global valves manufacturer KSB in retrieving ownership of core patents from third parties in Finland representing the Finnish industry scales manufacturer Tamtron Oy in a patent infringement and cancellation action against German company Schenk Process AG in Finland successfully representing German herbal liqueur manufacturer MAST Jägermeister AG in various trademark protection strategies and disputes in Finland and the Baltic States (as lead counsel) successfully representing international steel mining and benefication company Afarak Group in a global trademark dispute against Finnish steel company Rautaruukki Oyj from Finland successfully representing a Danish food company Arla Foods against Finnish dairy company Valio Oy in numerous trademark conflicts regarding soft spreads from 2005 to date

In addition to his extensive experience in legal proceedings and protection strategies, Petteri has written leading textbooks on trademarks and marketing law as well as several articles in Finnish and foreign publications.
