José Tam specializes in Civil and Commercial Litigation and National and International Arbitration.

He serves as president of the Peruvian chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club, has held the presidency of the Peruvian Chinese Chamber of Commerce since 2012, and currently chairs the legal committee of the association Peruanos Unidos por la Comida y la Alimentación (PUCA), a non-governmental organization promoting Peruvian cuisine.

José is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Center for China and Asia Pacific Studies of Universidad del Pacífico (UP) and member of the Advisory Committee of the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO), a non-governmental organization based in Beijing, China, created to promote various dispute resolution mechanisms between parties around the world. He represents Peru as a delegate to the Commission on Arbitration and ADR of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and is Co-Chair of the Integration Group of Women Way in Arbitration.

Likewise, he is also a member of the lists of arbitrators of institutions such as the Arbitration Center of the Lima Chamber of Commerce, the Center for Analysis and Conflict Resolution of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and the International Arbitration Center of the American Chamber of Commerce of Peru (AmCham Peru).

José is a lecturer and author of articles and papers on his specialty. He is the author of the book Proceso, poder jurisdiccional y tutela procesal efectiva (ARA Editores, 2009).

Several publications such as Chambers & Partners, Legal 500 and Leaders League recognize him as one of the best lawyers in Litigation and Arbitration, and he has been highlighted as a Thought Leader in Arbitration by Lexology Index.
