Career

Luis Carlos Rodrigo Prado is the managing partner of the Firm and the head of the Natural Resources and Environment practice groups. He specializes in mining and environmental law, mergers and acquisitions, and project finance.

He advises mining and natural resources companies, leveraging his comprehensive expertise in corporate, mining and tax law. He has extensive experience in structuring and designing strategies for mergers and acquisitions, and is highly skilled in negotiating investment and stability agreements, joint venture agreements and other types of agreements related to the exploration and exploitation of natural resources. He is also actively involved in international arbitrations before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

Luis Carlos Rodrigo is a member of the board of directors of major companies and is currently a member of the Advisory Committee of the Canada-Peru Chamber of Commerce, where he was president (2007-2012), vice president (2000-2007) and member of the board of directors (1997-2012). In 2011 he was granted the Gold Medallion by the Governor General of Canada.

In the International Bar Association (IBA), he has been an officer of the Mining Committee (2004-2009), where he was president (2010-2011); he has been an officer of the Latin American Forum (2012-2018), where he was president (2019-2020), and he has also been an officer of the Energy, Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Environment section (2012-2023).

Luis Carlos Rodrigo is vice-president of the Latin American Mining Lawyers Association since 2001.

He has served as a lecturer at the law schools of the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) and the University of Denver (DU), where he has taught courses in mining and energy law. He is frequent speaker at international conferences and in specialized programs on corporate, mining, and mergers and acquisitions law.
