Frederic Demeulenaere is a highly respected finance lawyer, recognized for his strong command of complex transactions and his ability to coordinate all aspects of a deal with precision and clarity.

He advises financial institutions, companies, investors and stakeholders—including lenders and sponsors—on a wide array of finance transactions. His expertise encompasses infrastructure finance, investment-grade corporate finance (both general corporate and event driven financings), leveraged and acquisition finance (including private and public bid financings for targets in the US), private debt transactions, real estate finance, ECA-backed financings and restructuring transactions. Most of the transactions he handles are cross-border, providing clients with comprehensive legal support across jurisdictions.

Examples of experience in the infrastructure space include advising on the Italian A3 toll road project bonds (which won the IFLR project finance deal of the year) and the Italian A21 toll road financing. He also advised on the refinancing of the Côte d’Azur airports in France.

Fred has also led numerous high-profile acquisition financings. By way of example, he advised MLAs on the €3.4bn financing supporting the successful US public takeover bid by Prysmian S.p.A. of Encore Wire Corporation and on the US$75bn financing supporting the takeover by AB Inbev of SABMiller (the largest commercial loan at the time).

In the private credit space, as well as assisting a PE sponsor on various levfin unitranche financings across Europe, Fred also assisted a leading Italian unlisted industrial group with its main operating facilities in the US and Latin America on a wide range of financing transactions including a US-style peer-to-peer holdco financing and various private placements to institutional investors (including in the form of a senior secured dual bond issuance and senior secured loan facility) alongside various financings at project company level.
