Calum Docherty advises market-leading clients on complex technology and data issues, with a particular focus on data protection and information law, artificial intelligence, and digital regulation.

Dual-qualified in England & Wales and California, Calum draws on a sophisticated understanding of the global regulatory landscape to counsel clients on multijurisdictional data protection, e-privacy, and cybersecurity matters involving:

• Product design
• Data transfers
• Online advertising
• Data breaches and security incidents
• Data protection disputes, primarily under UK/EU, US, and Middle East regimes

He also provides strategic advice on regulatory requirements relating to developing and deploying AI, digital services, consumer protection, and online safety, including the EU AI Act, EU Digital Services Act (DSA) and UK Online Safety Act (OSA).

Calum helps clients implement business strategies that involve large-scale data use and takes a commercial approach to crafting strategic global compliance programs. He also regularly advises deal teams on privacy, cyber, AI, and other data-related matters in the context of M&A and capital markets transactions.

Before joining Latham, Calum spent two years working on Google’s public affairs team in Mountain View, California, and Singapore.
