James Raleigh’s practice includes patent procurement, patent portfolio management, intellectual property (IP) due diligence, IP licensing, and international IP strategy. James primarily represents clients in the field of medical devices, with a particular focus on cardiovascular technologies, wound care, ex-vivo organ preservation, surgical tools, and orthopedic implants.

James supported the Series B funding of Paragonix Technologies by Signet Healthcare Partners and subsequently represented Paragonix on its patent portfolio relating to ex-vivo organ preservation. James was part of the Knobbe Martens team that advised Paragonix in their acquisition by Getinge for up to $477 million.

James was part of the Knobbe Martens team that defended IP diligence for the Series D extension financing of Conformal Medical, a company developing next-generation left atrial appendage occlusion technology for stroke prevention. James subsequently supported the acquisition of Conformal by W. L. Gore and Associates.

James supported the strategic equity investment by Signet Healthcare Partners and Windham Capital Partners in PainTEQ, a company specializing in minimally invasive solutions for sacroiliac joint dysfunction.

James was awarded the Patent Pro Bono Achievement Certificate by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and has been recognized as part of the Federal Bar Association’s Step Up Pro Bono Challenge.
