Career

Eduardo Méndez is an internationally trained and experienced lawyer, currently serving as Associate in the Dispute Resolution team at Aguilar Castillo Love, based in San José, Costa Rica. He represents clients in international and domestic arbitration proceedings, as well as complex litigation, with a strong focus on energy, mergers and acquisitions, construction, distribution, hospitality, bankruptcy, and the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.

Eduardo is admitted to practice law in Costa Rica and the State of New York. He received his Licentiate degree (J.D. equivalent) with highest honors from the University of Costa Rica and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School, where his dissertation was awarded honors. He is fluent in Spanish, English, and French, and possesses intermediate proficiency in German (certified B2).

Eduardo serves as regional co-chair for Mexico and Central America of Young ITA (Institute for Transnational Arbitration) and as co-editor-in-chief of the Costa Rican Journal of International Law. Before joining Aguilar Castillo Love, he gained experience at leading firms and institutions, such as Chaffetz Lindsey LLP in New York, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, UNIDROIT in Rome, and relevant firms in San José, Costa Rica.
