William advises on a broad range of intellectual property and commercial matters with a particular focus on contentious work. He specialises in trade mark, design, copyright and passing off disputes but also has a great deal of experience managing large international trade mark portfolios and drafting complex commercial contracts.

He regularly prosecutes and defends matters at the UK Intellectual Property Office, EU Intellectual Property Office, Nominet Domain Name Registry, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and the High Court (Chancery Division). William also has significant experience with both arbitration and mediation.

William’s clients operate in a broad range of industries, including fashion, product design, food & drink, software, robotics, finance and retail.

William is a non-executive director of the British Footwear Association and acts as Briffa’s liaison with a number of our affiliate trade associations, such as the Association of Illustrators and the Greetings Card Association.

Additionally, William speaks regularly on the topic of intellectual property and delivers training to other lawyers via MBL Seminars. William has written articles on IP for The Copyright Lawyer Magazine, the CITMA Review and Lexology.
