Mourant appoints Managing Director for the Middle East

Mourant, a law firm-led professional services business, is expanding its presence in the Middle East with the appointment of Richard Nunn as Managing Director, Middle East. Based in the UAE, Richard will lead the firm's regional growth strategy. Richard brings a wealth of experience to the role. He joins Mourant from Deloitte, where he spent six years working with family enterprises in Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Prior to that, he served as Global Head – Overseas Markets at Jersey Finance, based in the UAE. Mourant celebrates 40 mid-year promotions

Mourant, a law firm-led professional services firm, has announced 40 mid-year promotions – an increase of over 40 per cent on the previous year. These appointments include 24 promotions in Mourant Governance Services, reflecting significant growth in the firm's entity management and administration business. Five promotions were also awarded to lawyers in the legal practice and 11 in business services. All promotions are effective from 1 August 2025*. This announcement marks another successful round of mid-year promotions, which provide the firm's employees with a second annual window to progress, supporting workplace motivation and satisfaction. Mourant advises NCB Financial Group on strategic sale of Cayman Islands banking business

Mourant, an international professional services firm, has acted for members of the NCB Financial Group on a strategic intra-group restructure which forms part of the Group's efforts to optimise its business structure and align related business activities. The transaction involves the sale by National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, NCB (Cayman) Limited and NCB Trust Company (Cayman) Limited, to Clarien Bank Limited, and the linked sale by NCB Capital Markets (Cayman) Ltd. of a defined portfolio of wealth and investment management client relationships. The deal is subject to certain closing conditions and regulatory approval. Mourant advises Randalls on acquisition of Big Red Guernsey Limited

Mourant, an international professional services firm, has advised Guernsey-based hospitality group R.W. Randall Limited (Randalls) on its strategic acquisition of Big Red Guernsey Limited, owner of three popular restaurants on the island: Red, Rosso, and Tinto. The transaction underscores Mourant’s strength in delivering fully integrated, multi‑disciplinary advice on complex local, cross‑practice mandates. Mourant's Corporate team led the M&A aspects of the deal, supported by specialist advice across competition, employment, data protection, and commercial property, ensuring a seamless end‑to‑end service for the client. Corporate Partner Alana Gillies Ridout and Paralegal Ella Kirk helped secure the required approval from the Guernsey Competition and Regulatory Authority. Mourant named as one of the 2024 eprivateclient Top Offshore Law Firms for another year

Mourant advises on record-breaking £5.2bn care sector deal

Mourant, a law firm-led professional services firm, has advised on the offshore corporate, finance and real estate aspects of the £5.2 billion disposal of Barchester Healthcare to Welltower, thought to be the world's largest-ever care home deal. Barchester is one of the UK’s leading independent care providers, operating over 250 care homes and seven registered hospitals, and employing more than 17,000 staff. Contracts were exchanged on 11 September 2025, with completion taking place on 16 October 2025. Mourant corporate and finance Partners Sam Malpass and Gareth Rigby led the Jersey law aspects of the transaction, supported by Senior Associates Lauren Maycox Turner, Sarah Kerr and James Le Seelleur, and Associates Carla Nocerino and Leah Harvey. Mourant advises IQM on US$1.8 billion business combination creating Europe’s first listed quantum company

Mourant, an international professional services firm, has acted as Cayman Islands legal counsel to IQM Finland Oy (IQM) on a business combination with the special purpose acquisition company, Real Estate Acquisition Corp (Nasdaq: RAAQ). The transaction values IQM at approximately US$1.8 billion and makes it the first European quantum company to go public. The deal is subject to certain closing conditions. IQM is a global leader in building quantum computers. The transaction provides funding with the aim to accelerate IQM's technology and commercial development towards fault-tolerance quantum computing, further strengthening its position in the market. Headquartered in Finland, IQM is also considering a dual listing that would see the trading of IQM’s ordinary shares on the Helsinki stock exchange, which would be expected to take place following the completion of this transaction. Leading the team for Mourant was Partner Andrew Grant, with support from Associate Paris Goode. Mourant bolsters global Investment Funds practice with new Singapore hire

Mourant's Cayman Corporate team strengthened by new Partner hire

Mourant, an international professional services firm with law at its core, has strengthened its Cayman Islands Corporate practice with the appointment of new Partner, Tom McLaughlin. Tom joins the firm from Dentons New Zealand where he was a Partner in the Banking and Financial Markets team. Prior to that, Tom was a member of another leading offshore professional services firm's multi-disciplinary Private Equity team, and also worked in Willkie Farr & Gallagher's New York office. Mourant celebrates February Partner promotions

Mourant, an international professional services firm, is pleased to announce the promotion of three Partners based in its Channel Islands and Cayman Islands offices. Benjamin Manchak and Jessica Vickers from the firm's Guernsey and Cayman Islands Litigation practices, and Jersey investment funds specialist Stefan Chinniah, will become Partners from 1 February 2026. Benjamin has been with Mourant since 2015 and possesses broad litigation experience developed during his decade at the firm, time spent at leading firms in the US and UK, and a period at the Office of the Prosecutor's Appeals Unit at the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia. In Legal 500 UK 2026, Benjamin is recognised as a Leading Associate in Dispute Resolution. Jessica joined Mourant in 2016 and advises on high-value cross-border commercial disputes, including contentious trust matters, fraud and misconduct allegations, and insolvency and restructuring cases. She was recently appointed co-chair of the Cayman Islands branch of the International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC). Stefan first joined Mourant in 2012 and returned in 2020 after time spent with CMS in London. Mourant's Jersey Funds team celebrates success in the 31st annual Monterey Jersey Fund Report

Mourant, an international professional services firm, has secured its position as the top legal adviser to all funds serviced in Jersey according to the 2025 Monterey Fund Report. In the latest findings, Mourant topped the table for number of funds serviced among all legal advisers in Jersey. Notably, the firm advised on a total of 1,198 funds, an increase of 84 funds compared to the previous year. This accounts for 32.83 per cent of the market share, reflecting its significant strength in the market and continued leadership within the funds sector. In addition, Mourant once again achieved the highest combined market share by assets, with market share by assets soaring to US$621.5 billion in the period assessed, over US$250 billion more than the nearest in its peer group. The report is published by Monterey Insight, an independent fund research company, and provides a comprehensive statistical analysis of all funds domiciled, serviced or distributed in Jersey. Monterey's 31st annual report highlights continued strong performance in the sector, with fund assets serviced in Jersey increasing by seven per cent in US dollars as of 30 June 2025. The number of sub funds also expanded by four per cent, reinforcing Jersey’s position as a leading international centre for sophisticated fund structures. Mourant's Head of Investment Funds, Joel Hernandez, appointed Chair of the Jersey Funds Association

Mourant, an international professional services firm with law at its core, is celebrating the appointment of Joel Hernandez as the new Chair of the Jersey Funds Association (JFA), the representative body for Jersey's market-leading funds industry. Joel possesses over 25 years of industry experience and currently heads Mourant's thriving Jersey Investment Funds practice. He specialises in real estate, private equity and venture capital funds, as well as private joint venture arrangements. He regularly advises global fund promoters, joint ventures and international service providers across a variety of asset classes with a particular focus on overseas pension and sovereign fund investors. Mourant strengthens Luxembourg corporate governance services offering with new appointment

Mourant, a law firm-led professional services firm, has appointed Adrian Dobbyn as Head of Luxembourg Corporate Governance. Adrian brings more than a decade of legal and corporate experience in private equity, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructurings, alongside significant skill in cross-border transactions.
