REAL ESTATE: CONSTRUCTION
We are a specialist construction and engineering, and commercial property firm based in Leeds. We are recognised as experts in energy projects such as wind, solar, biomass and large complex construction and engineering projects.
Barton Legal is regularly instructed by other law firms that do not have construction expertise to act on their behalf, as well as by firms with construction expertise needing extra assistance on a particular project or during a busy period.
Our clients are based across the UK, Europe and in the MENA region.
We are experts in all aspects of complex construction contracts such as FIDIC, JCT, ICE and NEC. One of our directors, Bill Barton, is a member of the International Construction Projects group of the IBA and regularly speaks at the IBA international annual conference. Bill also sits on the RIBA conduct and disciplinary panels.
It is of the upmost importance to us to provide practical, commercial and expert advice and guidance, delivered in plain English, with no legal goobledegook.
We can agree to work on the basis of fixed fees or capped fees as well as standard hourly rates and we will be totally transparent with how we record and bill time.
We will be happy to work at your premises whether that is an office, a factory, or in a portacabin. It is important to us that we understand completely the nature of what you do and we regularly attend site to ensure we know exactly what is happening. In this way our clients will be up to date with what we are doing, when, why and how and what the plan is going forward.
At the start of a new matter we take time to discuss with you what you want and need, and learn about your business and any relevant factors regarding time/ price/ location, to make sure we deliver real advice which is practical and relevant to you.
We are looking for long term relationships with our clients and we have acted for a number of clients for over 16 years.
However, we do not just wait for work to come to us, as we will work hard to find introductions for our clients and other contacts and regularly introduce parties and funders into projects.
We are also unusual as we carry out both non-contentious and contentious construction and engineering work and so understand what is to be avoided when drafting and what to look for when litigating. With contentious matters we will always try and find a way to resolve a dispute through mediation or another dispute resolution method first. Litigation is a last resort, albeit one we are very good at.
If you need a proactive, commercial expert for your project, whether at conception, or to help with drafting and negotiation or when something has gone wrong then look no further. We have the experience that you need but the ability to look ahead and help you plan and project manage any situation to your best advantage.
Based in Yorkshire, we guarantee a friendly, honest and brilliant service.
