Alastair Glover is a Dubai-based Gowling WLG Principal Associate who advises on private client law.
Now based in the Dubai office following seven years in our London Private Capital practice, Alastair is very well positioned to advise local and international families, family offices and trustees on global wealth holding structures, tax and relocation.
Alastair advises client on a diverse range of issues including:
Passing on their global wealth in a structured and (where applicable) tax efficient manner through the use of wills (includinng DIFC wills), trusts, foundations and corporate structures. Obtaining UK visas and citizenship with a particular focus on the Investor, Entrepreneur and student routes Understanding the impact of shariah inheritance provisions on their legal heirs and planning accordingly for succession Structuring UK and UAE property transactions.Alastair enjoys working closely with individuals, families and their existing advisors to design and implement bespoke solutions that work for them and which preserve the family wealth for future generations.
Acting for a diverse range of clients requires Alastair to have a strong working knowledge of onshore and offshore laws in multiple jurisdictions and to use his practical experience to match the legal tools available to each client's unique circumstances.
Alastair is recognised as an expert in private client matters and was recently named Rising Star at the GCCWealth Briefing awards 2015. Alastair is frequnetly asked to present on topics including, family succession and governance structures, UK tax and DIFC wills.

ExperienceTrust/corporate restructuring for a Middle Eastern family involving the establishment of a private trust company and a streamlined underlying corporate structure designed to allow greater family involvement in the management of the trust assets and to ensure continuity through the generations.
Successful immigration tribunal appeal for an Investor Visa client and her family who were initially refused indefinite leave to remain on the grounds of a technical breach of the immigration rules. On a previously untested aspect of the immigration rules, the initial refusal was overturned allowing the family to remain in the UK and continue.
Advising a class of beneficiaries entitled under a trust on agreeing terms of compromise with the trustees and other beneficiaries and recently approved by the Court.
UK tax advice on property holding structures for various clients, including unwinding existing trust/company holding structures.
Drafting bespoke family agreement to allow for the effective investment of shared family wealth whilst ensuring the rights of individual family members are protected. This highly bespoke document incorporated elements of trust drafting, corporate governance and reporting designed to protect the family's assets.
Ongoing advice to Trustees on complex PTC structure for succession planning, including co-ordinating advice in the UK, New Zealand and the BVI.
