Sarah recently joined Weightmans' Speciality Team in Manchester as a Legal Director.

Having qualified into the ‘property damage sector’ in 2012, Sarah has developed a particular interest in policy coverage work, ranging from general coverage queries, COVID-19 Business Interruption claims, as well as issues of non-disclosure, misrepresentation, and late notification.

Sarah is also experienced in dealing with defended liability property damage matters (fire, escape of water, construction-based damage) and subrogated recovery claims.

Notable cases Acting on behalf of various insurer clients in defence of a variety of first party COVID-19 Business Interruption (“BI”) claims ranging from a potential ‘group action’ to a £139m isolated claim. Successful defence of a £2m roof collapse claim on behalf of a key insurer client. Acting on behalf of an insurer client in defence of a litigated £1m fire damage claim stemming from the installation of an allegedly defective security system. Pursuing a successful £2m subrogated recovery following a fire at a well-known carpet store. Defending a £500,000 litigated fire damage claim on behalf of insurers, involving a significant Government Body as one of two co-defendants. Defending a multi-million-pound, multi-party dispute on behalf of insurers arising out of water damage allegedly caused by a defective sprinkler at a newly built secondary school.
