Professional Background

Mr. Aaron(Guangyi) Lee, with seven years of LLB and LLM legal education in international law (trade law) and one year of LLM in Trial Advocacy of US common law, has twelve years of professional legal experience in international trade and cross-border investment and M&A. Mr.Lee is an expert practitional in international trade, cross-border investment and M&A and Litigation and Arbitration.

Over a decade ago, Mr. Lee actively participated in number of US Anti-dumping and countervailing investigations of galvanized wire, activated carbon and crystalline silicon photovoltaic solar cells or modules exported from China, and led the EU Anti-dumping and countervailing investigation of crystalline silicon photovoltaic solar cells or modules exported from China, which achieved termination of the investigation, zero duty rate or separate preferential duty rate.

In the area of cross-border investment and M&A, Mr. Lee has led a number of equity investment and M&A projects involving listed companies as well as private equity (industrial) funds, covering industries such as traditional energy, new energy, data centers, real estate, culture and tourism, vehicles and autoparts and their maintenance, etc. In addition, Mr. Lee, as leading counsel has advised more than ten alternative investment and independent supervisor projects for a large state-owned insurance assets management company.

Since 2012, Mr. Lee has been establishing a team composed of cross-border investment and trade lawyers and continues to provide legal services regarding trade, cross-border investment and dispute resolution to clients in Europe, US, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East region/countries. Mr. Lee has observing developments in the field of international commercial arbitration, he has represented clients in cross-border disputes in cooperation with international firms and lawyers, and has also issued legal opinions as a PRC legal expert on overseas litigation; Also, Mr. Lee frequently communicates with domestic and international arbitration experts to share arbitration experience. In May 2023, Mr. Lee participated in an international arbitration seminar in Thailand hosted by ASA and HKIAC.

In particular, Mr. Lee’s team is well known among clients in the Middle East. Mr. Lee’s clients include large-scale state-owned energy and industrial manufacturing enterprises and private family enterprises in Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, US, Azerbaijan and other countries. Mr. Lee has visited Iranian Chamber of Commerce and Isfahan Chamber of Commerce. He has also kept close contact and communication with the embassies and consulates general with the embassies and consulates general of the relevant countries in China and Shanghai in the field of business and other areas.
