Michael Liu is the Senior Partner of Hylands Law Firm. He co-chairs the Legal Committee of AmCham China. He is member of different international associations such as INTA and International Business Committee of Chaoyang Lawyer Association. Michael has given presentations on Chinese law at many international conferences. Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Peking University and his Master's degree from China University of Political Science and Law. Michael Liu is a business lawyer and a true advocate for international business. He has broad practice areas: Intellectual Property, Dispute Resolution, Compliance & NGO. He teaches Chinese IP laws and enforcement at Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) in Germany. Michael has represented many international companies and NGOs. Among these clients, he has represented a world-leading insurance NGO in establishing a representative office in China, and providing legal opinions on Compliance, Labor and IPR. He has also represented a famous German kitchenware brand in China in IP protection, including but not limited to trademark application, opposition, non-use cancellation, invalidation, patent prosecution, copyright registration, IP Portfolio, China Customs Recordal, Customs training, counterfeit goods inspection and seizure, TM & Patent Litigation, as well as enforcement and destroy the counterfeits.  Michael has been practicing since 2010. He used to work with Stoel Rives LLP, a West Coast US law firm in their Seattle Office. He has provided legal services for many international companies as well as Chinese companies.
