Position

Solicitor in our Family and Matrimonial team, cross qualified as a solicitor in Ireland.

Maeve has experience in all areas of private family law, with particular expertise in divorce and the financial implications of couples separating. She has particular experience in cases involving multiple assets including properties in this jurisdiction and overseas, family businesses and the associated intricacies often involved. She is also experienced in matters involving interveners.

She also advises clients in the financial disputes which may arise following the separation of unmarried couples, including financial arrangements which might need to be made for any children.

Maeve’s other area of expertise is private children matters, and advising parents in relation to child arrangements. She also frequently advises clients in relation to issues concerning domestic abuse and the associated court proceedings, and well understands the careful and sensitive approach needed.

She takes a pragmatic and sensible approach to cases and always attempts to settle out of court where appropriate. She is known for her compassionate and professional approach to client care and has received positive testimonials for the support she has provided to clients throughout her cases.

Career

Maeve was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors (Republic of Ireland) in 2013, and the Roll of Solicitors (England & Wales) in 2016.

From 2017-2021, she practised at two solicitors firms in London.

In 2020, Maeve obtained the Resolution accreditation on Financial Remedies and Private Children.

She joined Bindmans LLP in 2021

Maeve successfully represented the appellant in the Court of Appeal decision in Re A (A Child: Findings of Fact) [2022] EWCA Civ 1652, overturning the High Court’s decision at a fact-finding hearing in wardship and inherent jurisdiction proceedings

Education

In 2006 Maeve graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Social Science (Hons).

In 2011, she completed the Law Society of Ireland Professional Practice Course.

Personal

Maeve is a volunteer at BPP University Free Legal Advice Clinic, assisting family clients who are struggling to afford access to justice as they are ineligible for legal aid and unable to afford a solicitor. She supervises students, who meet with the clients to take instructions and then revises draft letters of advice and supports the students in developing their levels of expertise.

Maeve is a Resolution accredited specialist in financial matters on separation and children cases. As a member of Resolution, she is committed to approaching matters in a non-confrontational and constructive way, which enables her to progress cases in a cost-effective and sensible manner. Maeve provides timely, sensitive and pragmatic advice throughout her cases in order to ensure that a successful outcome can be achieved as quickly as possible for her clients.
