Wendy has been practicing as an advocate and solicitor with Shook Lin & Bok since 2009 and was made a partner of the firm in 2017. She is also a registered trademark, patent and industrial design agent.

Wendy specializes in intellectual property law and information technology and her practice includes the advisory and prosecution of trademarks, patents and industrial designs where she manages portfolios for both local and international clients in various jurisdictions. In addition to that, she has extensive experience in handling trademark opposition proceedings for marks spanning across multiple industries and is experienced in conducting IP due diligence, reviewing of IP agreements, contracts and other IP related legal documents including those within the realm of technology and multimedia.

She is actively involved in intellectual property litigation and frequently appears before the High Court for intellectual property disputes. She has also appeared in the Court of Appeal and Federal Court in several intellectual property cases, including in one culminating in a landmark decision on the test for the determination of validity of industrial design registrations which is still binding today.

Wendy has been recognized as a key / recommended lawyer by Legal500 Asia Pacific for several years and as a leading individual (Silver Category) by the World Trademark Review’s WTR 1000. She was also ranked as “Up and Coming” by Chambers and Partners in its Asia-Pacific 2026 rankings.

In addition, she conducts training / gives talks in-house, to university students and to clients and have participated / assisted in the review of IP legislation over the years. She has also been a regular speaker on the topic of intellectual property law for the Kuala Lumpur Bar Professional Development Committee for the past few years.

She is also an active member of the firm’s China Desk team and assists Chinese speaking clients from around the world.

Wendy is a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA), Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) and the Malaysian Intellectual Property Association (MIPA). She is also a member of the APAA Newsletter Team reporting for Malaysia and was amongst the presenters who presented the Malaysian country group report for the APAA Trademarks Standing Committee at the 2023 General Assembly and Council Meeting in Singapore. She has also served on various APAA standing committees over the years, is a backup member of the current APAA Copyright Standing Committee for Malaysia and is a current member of the INTA Legislation and Review Committee for the 2026 – 2027 term.
