Peter advises clients on a wide range of commercial disputes, including commercial property, company law, contract interpretation, construction (including leaky homes), defamation, franchise, insurance and intellectual property.

He is actively engaged with property owners in the aftermath of the Canterbury earthquake and has represented them in claims against insurance companies and the Earthquake Commission. He leads the EQC Group Action where the owners of more than 130 properties are investigating a challenge to Earthquake Commission’s interpretation of its statutory standard of repair. Peter is at the forefront of this litigation.

In addition to insurance litigation, Peter has a broad international commercial litigation practice regularly appearing in the High Court and the Court of Appeal and at arbitrations. He has also appeared before the Royal Commission into the Pike River Coal Mine Tragedy and the Canterbury Earthquake Royal Commission.

He is recommended in the 2017-2020 Legal 500 Asia Pacific Guides.
