Karol has extensive experience in regulatory, risk management and compliance matters, with a particular focus on the financial, banking and insurance sectors. Prior to joining SSW, he was General Counsel at Nationale-Nederlanden Group for many years. He oversaw the legal, risk management and compliance department as Director of the Legal Team, Director of the Legal and Risk Management Department, Chief Compliance Officer and member of the Management Board. In his role as Chief Compliance Officer, he participated in and advised on the NN Group's preparation for its IPO. He has extensive experience in operational control and supervision of compliance processes.

In addition, he built his experience by taking up senior positions in Polish supervisory authorities. He served as Director of the Legal and Licensing Department at the Pension Funds Supervisory Authority (Urząd Nadzoru nad Funduszami Emerytalnymi), as well as Director of the Legal Department at the Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) and Managing Director of the Legal and Regulatory Division at the KNF.

Represented supervisory authorities in the state security network - i.e. the Ministry of Finance, the Bank Guarantee Fund, the National Bank of Poland, the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Poland, the Financial Stability Committee. He co-authored the supervisory authority's guidelines and recommendations on banking, insurance and capital markets. As a result of his leadership role at the Financial Supervision Authority, Karol has a unique ability to pragmatically assess business and control processes from a compliance perspective.
