Career

César R. Ternieden is a Partner at Youssef + Partners and a senior member of the firm’s International Arbitration practice, with extensive experience in high-value international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations. He regularly acts in complex, cross-border disputes seated in the Middle East and beyond, under the rules of leading arbitral institutions including CRCICA, LCIA, and DIAC.

César has co-led a number of disputes, advising multinational corporations, investors, and state-linked entities across a wide range of industries, including construction and infrastructure, energy and oil & gas, hotel management, automotive, distribution and agency, real estate, shipping, insurance, and pharmaceuticals. Clients value his ability to combine rigorous legal analysis with decisive, commercially driven strategy.

He is consistently recognized by the leading international directories. Since 2020, Cesar has been ranked Band 3 in Chambers Global (Egypt – Arbitration) and is listed as a Leading Individual in The Legal 500 Egypt – Arbitration. One client noted that he “delivers clear, efficient, and commercially sound advice” (GAR 100).

He holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Boston University School of Law, and a B.S. in Physics and Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Cesar has been admitted to the State Bar of Arizona since 2000.
