About
Managing Partner: Santiago Ramírez Bonilla
Firm Overview: Ramírez Bonilla is a Bogotá-based law firm that advises from a corporate law perspective, with intellectual property at its core, alongside business insight and the legal back office. It supports its clients' most complex and strategic projects, including contracts, technology adoption, transactions and disputes.
The Firm regards the law as a strategic enabler rather than an end in itself. Its role is to make clients' business models viable, secure and scalable. Behind every company, start-up or creator sits an ecosystem of legal decisions that should support, not slow down, innovation and growth.
Intangible assets sit at the centre of the Firm's practice, from trade marks, content and technology to know-how and reputation. The Firm does not merely protect them. It seeks to turn them into tools for expansion and to integrate them with the corporate, employment, data protection, compliance and dispute resolution work that sustains a sound business.
The Firm combines traditional IP expertise with operational knowledge of social-media platforms, creator-economy monetisation systems and online rights-enforcement mechanisms. It also invests in technology, including real-time reporting dashboards, automated docketing and workflow automation, so clients have transparent, up-to-date visibility of their filings and disputes.
The Firm's purpose is to create trust that transforms.
Main Areas of Practice:
Intellectual Property: The Firm advises on the registration, defence, licensing and commercialisation of trade marks, copyright, new creations (including inventions and technological developments) and trade secrets, in Colombia and across multiple jurisdictions. It acts in trade mark and copyright disputes, oppositions, ownership conflicts and settlement negotiations. It also supports the IP aspects of financing and investment transactions.
Digital Rights & Platform Enforcement: The Firm has specific experience protecting and monetising content on Meta, YouTube and TikTok. This includes Rights Manager configuration, takedowns, counter-notifications, impersonation actions, copyright-clearance reviews and platform compliance (IP and page health checks).
Influencer Marketing & Creator Economy: The Firm structures collaboration, revenue-sharing and distribution agreements for digital platforms and social media. It also drafts licensing arrangements, brand collaborations and creator-management frameworks for creators, artists and digital-content businesses.
Corporate Law: The Firm advises on capital structuring and financing, including mergers and acquisitions, due diligence, capitalisations, convertible notes and capital monetisation. It also advises on corporate governance, shareholder agreements and conflicts of interest. It drafts and negotiates civil, commercial and employment contracts designed to mitigate risk while keeping operations moving.
Compliance & Data Protection: The Firm designs and implements regulatory compliance programmes covering personal data protection, resource management and client due diligence. It also supports clients with reporting obligations before the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC), such as the National Database Registry (RNBD).
Technology & Cross-Border Licensing: The Firm advises on technology and know-how licensing and on the protection of proprietary systems and confidential information. It frequently works on cross-border matters involving the United States, Mexico and Ecuador, coordinating with foreign counsel.
Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution: The Firm represents clients before the ordinary courts and in contentious-administrative proceedings, including before the tribunals and the Council of State. It also handles conciliation and the enforcement of judgments and obligations, with a focus on preserving commercial relationships and avoiding prolonged disputes.
