Senior Associate

Sophia Merkouri is a senior associate at Lamnidis Law specialising in regulatory and administrative law, strategic investments, state aid, industrial licensing, corporate compliance and financial regulatory matters.

She advises on regulatory frameworks governing industrial activity, strategic investments and licensing procedures, including legal due diligence of investment projects, regulatory compliance and licensing requirements for industrial and business park developments, tourism investments and manufacturing projects.

Sophia has been involved in the preparation and implementation of regulatory reforms and secondary legislation aimed at simplifying licensing procedures, improving state aid frameworks and supporting strategic and industrial investments. She has also been involved in the legal support and preparation of matters brought before the Coordination Committee and the Interministerial Committee of Strategic Investments under the Greek strategic investment framework.

Her experience includes working on projects relating to the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), industrial and business parks, and investment incentive frameworks, as well as collaborating with public bodies involved in investment promotion and export support.

In addition, she advises corporate clients and financial institutions on corporate compliance, financial regulatory matters, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate transactions, including legal due diligence, share purchase agreements and regulatory filings with supervisory authorities, including the Bank of Greece.

She also has experience in administrative, civil and commercial litigation and in advising on regulatory compliance in relation to financial market and securities transactions.

Her practice focuses on regulatory and administrative law, strategic investments, state aid and licensing, corporate compliance and financial regulatory matters.
