Career

Thomas Lamnidis is the founding partner of Lamnidis Law and has extensive experience in international energy, infrastructure, transport and privatisation projects, advising governments, international organisations, international financial institutions and multinational companies on large-scale investment projects across Europe, Southeast Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, Asia and Africa.

His practice focuses on project development, project financing, privatisations, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory and legislative work, and dispute resolution, with particular emphasis on the energy and infrastructure sectors.

He has acted as legal advisor on numerous projects financed or supported by international financial institutions, including the European Union, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the World Bank, in more than 40 countries.

His experience includes advising on the development, acquisition and financing of large energy projects, including conventional power plants, renewable energy projects (solar, wind, biomass, hydro), battery storage projects, gas infrastructure and LNG projects, as well as cross-border energy infrastructure projects. He has also advised on major transport and infrastructure projects, including ports, oil terminals and transport corridors, and on strategic real estate privatisations and large asset development projects.

Thomas has advised on hundreds of mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructurings in Greece and abroad, as well as on debt restructuring and complex cross-border investment structures.

His recent and notable experience includes advising the World Bank on the Black Sea Submarine Cable Project, advising on the financing and development of CCGT projects of total capacity of 4,080 MW, advising on the development and acquisition of more than 12,000 MW of solar projects, advising on the acquisition of a minority stake in a gas distribution network in Southeast Europe, advising on waste-to-energy projects involving multiple municipalities in Greece, advising on battery storage projects, and advising public authorities on real estate privatisations and asset exploitation projects.

He has also been involved in legislative and regulatory drafting in the energy sector, including secondary legislation for operational permits in electricity, heating, oil and gas and renewable energy projects.

In addition, he has extensive experience in international arbitration, mediation and dispute resolution in relation to energy, infrastructure and investment projects.
