Position
Dana Shelton, a partner in our Litigation Section, has extensive experience handling contested regulatory matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Louisiana Public Service Commission, and appellate courts.
Career
Dana has handled numerous high-stakes matters that have garnered significant energy rate savings for the ratepayers she represents. She was an integral part of the legal team that successfully petitioned the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for an unprecedented electric energy cost equalization mechanism that achieved more than $800 million in rate savings for Louisiana’s electric consumers. Most recently, she has been one of the lead lawyers representing the Louisiana Public Service Commission in seeking reduced rates that are charged to consumers for power from the Grand Gulf nuclear plant.
Dana also has experience navigating the stakeholder process in regional transmission organizations, working on transmission tariffs, rulemakings, and cost allocation policy development. She has handled environmental regulatory and litigation matters, as well as commercial disputes in the areas of leasing, insurance and products liability.
Dana taught a course in Energy Law and Policy as an adjunct professor at Tulane University Law School for five years. She has guest lectured on the topic of Public Utility Regulation and Evidence Law at Tulane and Louisiana State University Law Schools.
