Alexis Fournol is the founder of the firm, established in 2013. He is the firm's leading expert on all secondary market issues, particularly litigation relating to the authenticity of artworks as well as criminal law, customs law, and disputes over ownership of artworks.

Expertise

Alexis Fournol has leading expertise in all aspects of art law and art market law. His clientele consists mainly of French, Belgian, and international art market professionals, for whom he handles cases involving both domestic or cross-border issues. He has developed both litigation and advisory practices, enabling him to anticipate risks and provide the best possible protection for his clients’ interests.

With a degree in art history, a monthly contribution to the French edition of The Art Newspaper, and extensive teaching activities for professionals in the art world, he has a deep understanding of the sector's specificities, its actors and its challenges.

Over the years, Alexis has developed a network of trusted specialists in the art sector whom he can confidently recommend to his clients in France (accountants, insurers, notaries, experts, etc.).

Alexis has also developed a strong practice in publishing law and equine law.

Teaching

For the past ten years, Alexis has successfully trained a whole generation of young French auctioneers. He regularly teaches emerging and established artists at art schools (Beaux-Arts de Paris, École des Arts décoratifs, etc.) and artist residencies (Artagon, Poush, etc.). He continues to teach at university level, notably at Paris II-Assas University, where he lectures on AML/CFT issues and money laundering offences in the art market.
