Founding Partner - Competition Team Head

Baran Baş is a founding partner of Baş | Kaymaz Law Firm.

Prior to co-founding the Firm, he gained extensive experience as an associate, senior associate and counsel at some of Turkey’s leading law firms specializing in competition law.

For over a decade, Baran has represented and advised national and multinational undertakings in merger control, restrictive practices, abuse of dominant position, competition law-based damages claims, and the assessment of daily commercial activities from a competition law perspective.

He also leads comprehensive competition compliance programs for national and multinational clients to ensure full regulatory compliance.

In addition, Baran has significant experience in annulment actions filed before administrative courts against Turkish Competition Board decisions, as well as competition law related damages claims, and has represented Turkish and multinational companies before courts for many years in private enforcement.

Baran has authored many academic publications, policy notes and blog essays on Turkish and EU competition law, digital market regulation, and merger control, and is a regular contributor to Concurrences e-Competitions Bulletin.
