Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE)

At Mullis & Peake LLP Solicitors we are committed to a policy of treating all our employees, workers and job applicants equally. No employee or potential employee will receive less favourable treatment because of any “protected characteristic”, namely, but not limited to:

  • age (or perceived age)
  • disability (past or present)
  • gender reassignment
  • marriage or civil partnership status
  • maternity or pregnancy related issues
  • race, colour, nationality or ethnic or national origins
  • religion or belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation
  • trade union membership (or non-membership)
  • part-time or fixed term status

We are particularly concerned that equality and diversity is maintained in the following areas:

  • in the workplace
  • when providing services to clients
  • in our dealings with third parties, e.g. barristers, experts and suppliers

We aim to encourage, value and manage diversity and are committed to equality for our entire staff.  We wish to attain a workforce that is representative of the communities from which it is drawn.

These principles of equality and diversity also apply to the manner in which we treat clients, our business partners and visitors.

Commitment to the Community

Mullis & Peake LLP are proud to have been part of the community in Havering for over 100 years.

Since we launched our Shenfield office in December 2015, we have also been very active in the Shenfield and Brentwood community as well.

In 2018 and 2019, we got involved in a number of local activities, celebrated promotions and started new initiatives. We were also delighted to support our chosen charity of the year; First Step by running events and activities throughout the year to raise funds in aid of their cause. For 2019-2020, our charity of the year is the Sycamore Trust.   The Sycamore Trust UK began as a support group in the mid 1990’s for parents (Parents of Autistic Children Together).  After a merger with Mencap, they re-branded as the Sycamore Trust in 2014.  They have a very small staff, all of whom have a relationship with Autism. Already this year we have taken part in a presentation for the Sycamore Trust; visited their autism hub; taken part in Dare to be Different day and run a Wimbledon sweepstake. We are also hoping to hold a scavengers hunt as well as our popular Charity Challenge – where the different departments compete against one another to raise as much money for our charity of the year as possible.

We were also delighted to support local Romford attraction, The Havering Museum. The Museum provides a home for exhibits of Havering’s past. It defines what makes Havering: Havering, celebrating the achievements of local people, past and present. Our sponsorship this year went towards the Museum’s Reminiscence Group.
The Reminiscence Group is a fantastic cause that supports elderly men and women, giving them the opportunity to meet with likeminded people in the area. The group meets once a week to discuss topics from their younger years.

Mullis & Peake LLP Solicitors are also proud to sponsor Richard Riakporhe’s visits to schools in Havering and Shenfield; where he discusses knife crime. Richard, now a successful professional boxer and the current WBA Intercontinental Cruiserweight Champion, is ‘lucky’ to be alive after being stabbed as a teenager, as well as seeing his friends and family attacked.   He says himself that he came from ‘that’ place – of crime and gang-like culture – which he believes only ends with either death or prison.   Nearly 15 years later, he visits schools to tell students not to lead the life he once did, and is touring the area of Romford after hearing about the death of innocent 17-year-old Scout, Jodie Chesney, who was stabbed to death in a children’s park in Harold Hill.

We heard about what Richard was doing and offered to fund expenses to make sure he could visit as many schools in the Havering and Shenfield area as possible.

During the visits, he will tell the kids his own story and how they need to ensure they’re on the right path before it’s too late.

This year we will also be taking part in:

  • Sponsored and had 20 people from the firm take part in the Step 2 It Havering 5K which raised money for First Step.
  • Sponsoring the Brentwood Half Marathon
  • Sponsoring the Havering Mind Wheels and Wings event
  • Supporting various charities by sponsoring their golf events.
  • We will be in attendance at the Shenfield Christmas Fayre, sponsoring the photo booth and holding our Christmas Craft Café.
  • Seven brave members of staff from Mullis & Peake took part in the FRP Advisory Nuclear Races in aid of Little Havens Children’s Hospice.
  • 17 people from the firm took part in the London Legal Walk. The London Legal Walk raises much needed funds for charities that provide life changing legal advice and representation to those in need.
  • Five members of Mullis & Peake LLP staff completed the LawNet challenge, this year it was the Fairfield Horseshoe, a 21km hike, covering an average of 3500ft of ascent.
  • We sponsored the Brentwood Half Marathon and Fun Run in March; this is a great event, not only in the local community but also within UK athletics where it’s rated as one of the best organised road race events in the country. This year our Chairman, Martyn Trenerry, and Holly Minney, Senior Associate Solicitor-Advocate, were on hand to give out medals and congratulate the winners.
  • Finally we sponsored the first Havering Literary Festival last year and will do so again this year. This was a great festival, with lots of famous authors holding meet and greets and writing workshops; a brilliant event for our community.

TESTIMONIAL: May I take this opportunity to thank you for your diligent and pro-active work during the process of selling our industrial unit. This was a rare occasion that proceedings did not drag on and your communication was excellent throughout. I would certainly recommend your services going forward and wish all solicitors were as efficient as you.

CLIENT: Mr Channa
COMPANY/FIRM: Britannia Pharmacy
TESTIMONIAL: It gives me great pleasure in advising you that the level of service and due diligence and care I received from Danielle was to an outstanding level, beyond my expectation of a Non-City Firm. Danielle took a great deal of care and personal interest in ensuring that I was advised on all matters promptly and fully. Additionally all follow-ups and matters requiring attention were professionally and courteously handled by Danielle at all times. In fact, there were two occasions where Danielle was ahead of me, such was her level of care over this matter. I am also certain that Danielle would work with the same enthusiasm on her other projects and clients. You have a good, dedicated solicitor in Danielle.

CLIENT: Mr Kennedy
COMPANY/FIRM: Theydon Bois Golf Club
TESTIMONIAL: On behalf of the Directors of Theydon Bois Golf Club it would be remiss of me not to offer sincere thanks for your professional advice and for the friendly and courteous way you have dealt with me.

CLIENT: Ms Joseph
TESTIMONIAL: I just wanted to drop you an email to let you know how grateful I am that you gave me some of your time. I appreciate that you must be very busy, I cannot stress how helpful your advice was. I had been pushed from person to person within governmental advice services and was at a loss when I rang Mullis and Peak. I had little hope that I would get to speak to a solicitor, especially at such short notice. So thanks so much, I really appreciate it. You were professional and friendly, but with advice that was clear and coherent. I will be sure to recommend your services to others in the future.

TESTIMONIAL: I feel that Roisin was the light at the end of my tunnel. After four disappointing consultations with other solicitors – Roisin was a thorough professional and took a genuine interest in both my cases. From the communications that I provided, she could visualise the bigger picture throughout both my divorce and custody cases. She has provided an excellent service throughout the worst emotional time of my life. Her guidance during these difficult times was faultless, and comprehension of the situation was unsurpassed. With my emotions in turmoil, her continued guidance enabled me to make the right choices and correct decisions. I have never needed to worry about relaying any trivial information because she could see it in the bigger picture. I felt that Roisin was a close member of my family who knew my case history fully without prompting. Her continued professional and excellent service delivered with a focus on results and not just finance, Roisin is a credit to Mullis & Peake. I cannot thank her enough for all the hard work and support.

CLIENT: Mr and Mrs S
TESTIMONIAL: We felt the service provided to us was excellent. Using other solicitors in the past, who were not approachable and only wanted money, it was a pleasure to use Mullis & Peake. We certainly chose well when we looked online for a local company. Trudi Bates was great and looked after us very well from start to finish. We will certainly use your firm in the future and highly recommend you.

TESTIMONIAL: I first met Samantha Hamilton at Mullis & Peake LP when she helped me to write my will and power of attorney and I am pleased to say that she keeps in touch by Christmas and Easter cards also the invitation to have a chat. I am glad because I had an incident where I did not know who to turn to, my first thought was to ask Samantha who listened to me and gave me sound advice which helped… I would give her a gold medal and I would recommend her to anyone who may be seeking true advice. I cannot praise her enough. She put my mind in a better state.
