Areas of practice
Banking and finance: the firm assists with all aspects of banking and finance law, including Swedish and international bonds and notes issues, syndicated and bilateral loans, export, project and acquisition finance and regulatory work.

Capital markets: the firm assists on all varieties of capital markets transactions, including securities and financial regulatory matters.

Commercial, corporate and M&A: the firm regularly assists leading Swedish and international companies on sophisticated domestic and cross-border transactions and on general corporate matters, including: M&A; shareholder/governance matters; joint ventures; incentive programs; employee stock purchase plans; and commercial agreements.

Data protection and integrity: The firm provides advice to various businesses and industries on all issues relating to data protection and integrity. Our clients range from Swedish and international groups to startup companies.

Dispute resolution: the firm handles commercial dispute and is strong in contentious matters in M&A and investment-related disputes, IT, IP and telecom disputes, industry and energy sector disputes and credit and insolvency disputes. It is a leading firm in Sweden for representation in professional liability matters and handling international disputes.

Employment: the firm has vast experience in advising Swedish and international clients on employment and labour law matters. The practice handles high-level employment work across a range of industry sectors, and is especially well regarded in the construction sector.

Environment and energy: the firm represents the manufacturing, quarry, waste and energy sectors. It advises in the energy production sector, advising on energy issues such as the grid, energy taxes, emission rights, purchase and sales agreements, permits, and legal actions.

Insolvency and restructuring: Wistrand is one of the few Swedish firms to offer equal capability in traditional insolvency work and debt restructuring for banks and corporates. The practice covers official court appointments as liquidator, administering winding up of companies, high-level advisory work, out-of-court restructurings, and distressed workouts.

Insurance: the firm’s stellar reputation in contentious matters is also noted in its insurance-related work. The practice advises local Swedish corporate clients, insurers and international law firms.
