Career

Miguel E. Valerio Jiminián is a founding partner and head of the Public Law practice at VJR Abogados.

Mr. Valerio Jiminián advises clients on litigation strategies for complex cases in which transactions with multiple people involved and large economic interests are discussed.

Additionally, Miguel assists companies in compliance programs to avoid and detect criminal and administrative offenses. And in the event of litigation, he represents organizations in order to be in a better position to obtain optimal results in the defense of their interests.

In corporate matters, he has participated in conflicts between shareholders, assisting them in the company management process to avoid and/or detect the commission of corporate crimes, preventing the company from suffering pressures that limit their normal functioning.

Miguel has an active participation in criminal and administrative litigation, defining strategies that allow interests to be defended in the corresponding courts.

He combines his professional practice with university teaching, at undergraduate and master's levels, lecturing the subjects of Criminal Law, General and Special Part, Corporate Crime Law, Economic Criminal Law, Victimology, Criminology, Administrative Law Penalties, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).

Advisor on multiple draft legislations of national interest, among which stand out: Law No. 53-07 on High-Tech Crimes and Crimes, Law No. 126-02 on Electronic Commerce, Digital Documents and Signatures, Penal Code Project, Vaccine Law Project, Victim Assistance and Witness Protection Law Project, Criminal Procedure Code and the Civil Aviation Law, in criminal and administrative offenses.
