Position
Katie is a specialist Dispute Resolution Lawyer who focuses on complex contentious trusts and probate disputes.
With particular expertise in matters involving vulnerable individuals, she helps clients navigate sensitive family disputes surrounding wills, estates and trusts.
Having developed a focused practice in contentious probate work, Katie acts for both claimants and defendants across all aspects of trust and estate disputes.
She combines technical expertise with a naturally empathetic approach, helping clients resolve complex family property arrangements, challenges to will validity and claims under the Inheritance Act.
Katie is skilled at finding practical solutions through mediation but is also a determined litigator when needed.
Her experience includes:
Recovering misappropriated assets
Acting for the executors of a substantial estate in successfully recovering misappropriated assets from an attorney who had breached their duties, requiring detailed forensic investigation and strategic litigation
Complex cohabitation settlement
Securing a significant settlement for a cohabitant partner of 30 years who had been excluded from their deceased partner’s Will, involving complex relationship evidence and financial dependency claims
Securing financial security for minors
Representing minor children in obtaining financial provision from their deceased parent’s estate after being excluded from the Will, requiring sensitive handling of family dynamics and detailed analysis of financial needs
Successful removal of estate executor
Successfully removing an executor for serious breaches of trust and mishandling of estate assets, including recovery of misappropriated funds through court proceedings
