Career

Apurva heads the Shipping, Commodities & International Trade Disputes Resolution practice of the Firm. She has over 14 years of expertise in handling Civil & Commercial litigations with key focus on Admiralty and Maritime Laws.

Apurva advises ship owners, charterers, traders, terminal operators, freight forwarders, insurers on various aspects of maritime and international trade laws. She has also successfully appeared for some International group of P & I Club members in their litigations in India and advises them on issues pertaining to domestic Indian law.

Apurva has handled a spectrum of cases dealing with charter party disputes, international trade laws and commercial transactions, marine insurance and cargo claims, maritime claims, personal injury and death matters, arrest and release of vessels, ship sale – purchase, ship building and financing contracts, offshore sector disputes, port and customs related litigation. She has appeared in Civil and Commercial disputes arising out of domestic and international contracts in various jurisdictions as well as Writ matters pertaining to port scale of rates; tenders; customs penalties etc. on behalf of government authorities and shipping lines.

She has represented clients in domestic and international arbitrations and commercial litigations and specialises in dispute resolution advisory and strategy management.

She is also an adjunct faculty for the MBA Program in Maritime Management, Logistics & Supply Chain organised by the CMMI - IIM, Mumbai.

Education

She has completed her Bachelors in Law (LL.B.) from Government Law College, Mumbai in the year 2011 and LL.M in Admiralty Laws from Tulane University, USA (with distinction).
