Allen/McMillan Litigation Counsel (“AMLC”) is a boutique commercial litigation firm founded with the goal of being a leading litigation boutique at the forefront of innovative and effective legal representation. Our main practice areas are: business and contract disputes; shareholder and director disputes; real estate litigation; complex strata litigation; construction litigation; municipal litigation; defamation; appellate litigation; and professional and administrative law.

AMLC opened in June 2018 with four lawyers: two partners (Wes McMillan and Greg Allen) and two associates. In only five years, the firm has grown to 13 lawyers and two students. In 2023, Kaitlyn Meyer joined the partnership, bolstering the strength of the firm’s management and strategic direction.

The firm has particular strength in real estate litigation. From 2021 to 2026, the firm and, specifically, Wes McMillan, were recognized by Best Lawyers for Real Estate Law. AMLC lawyers have written and taught courses for Realtors in British Columbia, as well as acted as counsel for the Real Estate Errors and Omissions Insurance Corporation. Wes has been a presenter at no less than seven Continuing Legal Education seminars on real estate law topics and written papers on the law of conditions precedent and leases of strata common property. He has been lead counsel on numerous leading decisions in the area of real estate law.

AMLC also has a distinct expertise in shareholders' remedies, municipal law and administrative law. The firm has a strong appellate advisory and appellate advocacy practice, with its lawyers appearing regularly at the British Columbia Court of Appeal. Further, the firm regularly appears in the Supreme Court of Canada for intervenors in public interest litigation. Since opening in 2018, counsel from AMLC have appeared at the Supreme Court of Canada in seven cases, with all three partners also having made appearances at the Supreme Court of Canada prior to AMLC opening.

Since opening its doors, AMLC and its lawyers have received recognition as one of British Columbia and Canada’s leading litigation boutiques.
