Diversity

  • Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) have been core values of Miura & Partners ('M&P') since its establishment in 2019. The firm recognises that diverse perspectives and experiences enhance its ability to respond flexibly to complex legal and business challenges and to provide sophisticated, high-quality advice to clients.

To promote DEI across the firm, M&P established a dedicated DEI Promotion Committee in 2025, composed of members from diverse roles and backgrounds. The firm has also introduced internal training programmes covering diversity and inclusion, LGBTQ+ issues and unconscious bias, as well as hosting external lectures on disability and human rights. In January 2026, M&P further formalised its commitment by publishing its DE&I Statement.

Through these efforts, M&P continues to foster an inclusive environment and contribute to the advancement of diversity and inclusion both within the legal profession and in society more broadly.

  • Various Backgrounds

M&P brings together lawyers from a wide range of professional, cultural and international backgrounds, including those from domestic and international law firms of various sizes, government agencies, and private companies, fostering an inclusive and internationally minded environment.

We have more than 40 female lawyers accounting for one third of the total. Importantly, this commitment extends to leadership: women account for approximately 30% of the partnership, a significantly higher ratio than that of many major Japanese law firms. The firm also includes lawyers with experience in international organisations and public institutions across 35 different government agencies, providing valuable insight into regulatory processes and public-sector decision-making.

In June 2021, our firm received the Daini Tokyo Bar Association Family Friendly Award 2021. In addition to the support system for attorneys who have taken maternity leave or parental leave, our firm was evaluated positively for its deep awareness within the firm of, and respect for, one’s work-life balance. In February 2022, our firm was selected as one of the ten outstanding law firms for D&I in Japan in ""ALB Japan D&I List 2022"", according to the February 2022 issue of Asian Legal Business Japan, published by Thomson Reuters. In October 2022, the Innovation Platform for Business Legal published its 2022 ranking of law firms in terms of the percentage of women they had practicing, and our firm ranked seventh (excluding foreign law firms, we were ranked fourth).
